(7) Quarter-Finals Round 4 RESULTS

Olate Dogs (my #3)
They are a great, fun, entertaining act who deserve to be in this competition. I wasn't overly impressed with their performance last night but I am definitely happy to see them go through.

William Close (my #6)
He wasn't one of my favorites, but the judges gave him so much praise that it was almost a guarantee that he made it through. Maybe he'll impress me more next week.

Joe Castillo (my #4)
A great act that really deserves the exposure. He does something truly unique and I think America really likes originality.

Eric Dittelman
A great act that amazes me every time.

And with that All That gets sent to the wild card (not a surprise).

My Picks vs. America's:
3 out of 4.

(7) Quarter-Finals Round 4 REVIEW

I'm going to start off by saying that I'm upset with whoever's decision it was to put all of these acts in one week. Every single act that is performing tonight, apart from Ulysses, would have a huge chance of going through on any other week, particularly last week. I understand that it will make for good TV, but it's not fair that some of these acts have to compete against each other.

David "The Bullet" Smith
I guess it's cool, but it's really not that "entertaining" to me. I understand that it's dangerous, but I just don't think it's that great of a thing. Maybe it just doesn't come across as good on TV.

All That
I am very impressed that they were perfectly in-sync and didn't miss a step. I also saw a few moves in there that I've never seen before. In any normal week I would be very impressed, but I'm just not sure it's going to hold up to what's to come tonight.

Ulysses
I was actually surprised that he could sing that as well as he did considering I thought I remember him being much worse. That being said, he still does not deserve to move on.

Joe Castillo
I really like what he does. It's such a unique, cool idea. The only downfall I see is that it can get a bit boring if he doesn't change between the figures fast enough. I wasn't expecting something like that with a message, but I think it was a great twist that begins to take his act to the next level to make it something that could possibly be in Vegas.

Sebastien "El Charro De Oro"
This kid has a really great voice; so impressive from someone so young. I think he's great, but I liked his previous performances better.  Even so, I think he's a great performer and has the potential to do very well in this competition considering how well Jackie Evancho did.
Eric Dittelman
Absolutely amazing. I cannot believe it. Of course I have some sort of skepticism, but I honestly can't figure out how he sets something like that up to work exactly as he wants. Absolutely fantastic. Can't wait to see what he continues to bring to the competition.

William Close
I think it's cool, but I didn't think it was quite worthy of all the praise they're giving him. Sure it's cool, but do I think he should win? Absolutely not. I must be missing something because I honestly don't think it was that good, but man did they give him a lot of praise.

Unity In Motion
They were pretty good, but I wasn't overly impressed. There were only a few cool moves, and they weren't as synchronized as I would have expected. Again, I feel like I'm missing something, because I wasn't that impressed.

Eric and Olivia
I really like them, and I like that they do their own versions of the songs. After thinking about it, I sort of agree with Howie that it's more of a coffee house / lounge thing. I'm not sure it really works that well as a Vegas act.

Lindsey Norton
I was actually quite impressed with that performance. I was not expecting to see as many unique dance moves as I did. I think on any other night she would be almost a sure bet, but I'm not sure if that's true tonight.

Horse
I think it's great, funny, and entertaining, but I just don't think it needs to go any farther than this in the competition.

Olate Dogs
I love what their dogs can do, but I have to point out that they did a lot of the same tricks as last time, and I was really hoping they would do more this time. It's also important to note that they did have a few mistakes. I was probably most looking forward to this act in all of the quarter-finals, but I was slightly disappointed. That being said, I still think their act is amazing.

My Ranking:
(from best to worst)

1. Eric Dittelman
2. Sebastian "El Charro De Oro"
3. Olate Dogs
4. Joe Castillo

5. Lindsey Norton
6. William Close
7. All That
8. Unity in Motion
9. Eric and Olivia
10. Horse
11. David "The Bullet" Smith
12. Ulysses

(7) Quarter-Finals Round 3 RESULTS

Jacob Williams (my #5)
Although he wasn't in my top 4, I was so close to putting him there. Although I don't think he's as good as Tom Cotter, it will be interesting to see what happens in the Semi-Finals. I like his character so I'm excited to see what he does next.

Lightwire Theater (my #1)
They rightfully deserve to move through to the semi-finals, especially compared to the quality of acts that performed last night. I am very excited to see what they do to take it to the next level.

The Untouchables (my #3)
Very happy to see them go through. They are great dancers, especially considering their age. I would almost go as far as to say they are better than the Miami All-Stars. It's so amazing to see such young people dancing so well.

All Wheel Sports (my #2)
I think they have great potential to put together a really good act that could do well in Vegas. That being said, I think they have a lot of room for improvement.

My Picks vs. America's
I agreed with 3 out of 4 acts, but at least Jacob Williams was my #5.

(7) Quarter-Finals Round 3 REVIEW

The Untouchables
I thought they were great, but I'm not sure how far they can really get considering the Miami All-Stars only got so far last season. I think America might like them because of their youth, but I'm not sure it's that great of a dance act that it will be sent through. They are definitely very professional and mature dancers for their age.

Rock Star Juggler Mike Price
That was terrible and boring. Not only did he drop something, but he didn't do anything that great that really impressed me. I think there's really only so far one can go with juggling and I think America has seen it all at this point.

Inspire the Fire
At best, they're a mediocre show choir act. I've seen high school groups that were better than that. The singing was not very good and neither was the dancing. I only sorta liked them in their first audition, but this was even worse than that. Overall, a very mediocre act.

Cristin Sandu
Aw man. That blows. I was really hoping it would work out for him, but unfortunately for an act like this it can all go downhill in a matter of a second.

Elusive
I honestly found that kind of boring. There was too much time when he wasn't doing any dancing. I didn't think any of his tricks were that cool. Sure, he may be inspirational, but I didn't think his dancing was that original.

Jake Wesley Rogers
I could definitely tell that he was very nervous, and I think it may have affected his performance. I agree that it was not a good song choice; I just don't think he connected with it. He's definitely got potential, but I'm not sure he's ready quite yet.

All Wheel Sports
I liked everything I saw, but the problem was that I couldn't see everything at once. I really think they have too much going on to really appreciate any one thing. I think if they really focus their efforts to centralize their act they could really have something good.

Wordspit and the Illest
That sounded like a mess. I have no idea what the rapper was saying, and I don't think it was that good of a song. I honestly don't care how much energy they have; if the talent and entertainment value is not there, then it doesn't matter. I don't mind that they did an original song, I just didn't like the original song that they did.

Jacob Williams
I thought he had a few good jokes that got me laughing, but there were some jokes that I thought fell flat. I like him and I like his character, but I don't think he's as good as Tom Cotter.

All Beef Patty
Eh, I didn't think that was that good. His singing sounded somewhat forced, and I don't think it really worked.

Spencer Horsman
I didn't think this one was as good as his previous two. I like what he does and it did get me somewhat nervous, but I don't think it was that good.

Lightwire Theater
I think their concept is great and the creatures they created were absolutely amazing. That being said, I think they need something a little more than what they did tonight if they really want to do something great. They should add some sort of dance element or something to add some more excitement.

My Ranking:
(from best act to worst)

1. Lightwire Theater
2. All Wheel Sports
3. The Untouchables
4. Elusive

5. Jacob Williams
6. Jake Wesley Rogers
7. Spencer Horsman
8. Inspire the Fire
9. Wordspit and the Illest
10. All Beef Patty
11. Rock Star Juggler Mike Price
12. Cristin Sandu

(7) Quarter-Finals Round 2 RESULTS

1. Turf (my #7)
I had a feeling it was going to be both of them, but I was actually rooting for Turf. Although he wasn't in my top 4, I think he's a pretty good act.

2. Tim Hockenberry (my #8)
I didn't think he was that great but America loves it's singers so I guess that's why he's moving through. He definitely has talent so maybe he will impress me more next time.

3. Tom Cotter (my #2)
He's got great potential and I think he gave a good performance last night. I'm excited to see what he does next.

4. Donovan and Rebecca (my #1)
Danielle was great but honestly Donovan and Rebecca deserve this way more. They are a great act with the ability to do a wide variety of things.

My Picks vs. America's
I chose 2/4 acts. I had a feeling Tim Hockenberry & Turf would make it through but they just weren't in my top 4.

(7) Quarter-Finals Round 2 REVIEW

LionDanceMe
What they do is definitely pretty cool, but I honestly find it kind of boring. I'm not sure how long I could watch them. All they do is jump along the little poles. I understand the skill involved but I think it's just too boring of an act.

Turf
I think what he does is great and very cool, but I'm not sure it's something that fits well on the stage. I think it's great for the streets, but I don't think it's really something for the stage.

The All Ways
I'll admit that I don't usually like bands very much anyways, but that was honestly terrible. The vocalist did not sound good, and it was not a particularly unique or cool rendition of the song. I saw no hope for them in the first place but after this performance I really can't see them getting very far.

Hawley Magic
Wow. I've seen somewhat similar things before, but never quite like that with the spinning. It was a great illusion, especially since I don't remember them being that spectacular in the previous rounds. If they're only going to get better from that, then I'm definitely looking forward to what they do next.

Lisa Clark Dancing
I thought they were pretty good. It's definitely not the contemporary dance moves / stunts that we're used to on the show, but I still thought it was decent. Their moves are very tight and they have a unique style of dancing, but I agree with Sharon that it's too 'cute' and not 'edgy' enough. They should have done something more modern.

Aurora Light Painters
I think their concept is great and very original. The problem I see is that it's not flashy or edgy enough for this kind of show. I think it's a great idea, but when you set aside the fact that they're using light, it becomes something very basic and uninteresting. I think it's really just too small scale at this point. They need more people to be a part of the 'story' instead of just that one woman. I don't think it was terrible, but it definitely isn't ready for Vegas.

Danielle Stallings
She has a great voice, and I give her credit for having that voice and still being young. Normally I wouldn't think she would stand out, but compared to the acts we've seen so far tonight, she's definitely at the top.

Donovan and Rebecca
What they did tonight not only looked difficult and dangerous, but also very graceful. I think they're a great act with great versatility. I think they have the ability to put on a great show in Vegas that could be entertaining the entire time.

Big Barry
I'll admit that it was better than his previous performances, but it was still completely awful. I'm ashamed to watch this show when they put people like him through to the live shows.
Tom Cotter
I like him. Tonight he took a very simple concept and made it into a great performance that didn't get boring. I think he's one of the greatest comedians that has ever been on the show and I think he has a good shot at going far.

Ben Blaque
It's definitely cool to watch, especially when he's able to chop the edge of a rose off with a thin arrow. However, it just doesn't seem that dangerous to me for some reason. I'm not on the edge of my seat as I'd like to be with an act like this. That being said, it's still pretty entertaining and cool to watch.

Tim Hockenberry
He has a good voice, but it's honestly not that impressive to me. I tend not be impressed by the singing acts, and for some reason America really likes them as I'm sure they will like him. Just not one of my favorites of the night.

I'm very curious who America is gonna pick this week. Based on previous results I would expect Tim Hockenberry and/or Danielle Stallings to make it through. That potentially leaves only 2 spots for great acts like Donovan and Rebecca, Tom Cotter, Hawley Magic, Ben Blaque, and Turf who all received good feedback from the judges. My guess is 1 or both of the singers, Turf, Donovan and Rebecca, and either Tom Cotter or Ben Blaque.

My Ranking:
(from best to worst)

1. Donovan and Rebecca
2. Tom Cotter
3. Hawley Magic
4. Ben Blaque

5. Danielle Stallings
6. Lisa Clark Dancing
7. Turf
8. Tim Hockenberry
9. LionDanceMe
10. Aurora Light Painters
11. The All Ways
12. Big Barry

(7) Quarter-Finals Round 1 RESULTS

Shanice and Maurice Hayes (my #8)
Not a shocker. The judges loved their performance and I'm not surprised that America likes this kind of act too. Although they were not in my top 4, I am happy to be able to give them a second chance in my mind since I think they have more potential than they seemed to show last night.

The Scott Brothers (my #1)
Not a surprise either. They were great last night. I'm sad to see 787 Crew leave, but there are plenty of other dance acts that will hopefully meet standards.

David Garibaldi and his CMYK's (my #2)
Great act. Can't wait to see what's next for them.

Edon (my #4)
I was actually expecting Todd Oliver to be eliminated first, but I was pulling for Edon the entire time anyways. He may be young, but he's got a great voice. I doubt he will make it to the top 10 but he still deserves to move on over most of the other acts.

My Picks vs. America's
3/4 is pretty good! Off to a good start.

(7) Quarter-Finals Round 1 REVIEW

The Distinguished Men of Brass
I thought it was just OK. I'm not sure it was better than their last few performances. I agree with Howie that it is more of a half-time act. ITtwas exciting in some ways, but I wasn't overly impressed. They are definitely very talented men considering how much they move while still carrying those instruments.

Edon
Based on his past performances, I know that this kid has a great voice, but I personally don't think this was the best song to showcase it. Although I wasn't thrilled with this performance, I know he has a great voice and therefore will definitely consider putting him in my top 4.

Jarrett and Raja
Although it was a good illusion, I have seen something similar to this before. I might have some sort of idea how it was done but I don't think the television showed as much as the audience might have seen. I would also like to note that is probably the first time a live audience has boo-ed an act. The way I see it, if an audience boo-s an act, they do not deserve to move through.

Lil Star
I love her energy and the strength in her moves, but I don't think this performance was as good as her previous ones. She tended to be off with the music at some parts, and I just don't think the dancing was as good. I originally thought she was one of the better child acts, but now I'm not so sure. I definitely give her credit considering her age, but I think I agree with Howard.

Todd Oliver
I love his concept, but I agree that he needs better material. I also think there is some challenge with the dogs moving around while he is trying to manipulate them. I was hoping it would be better but I can't say it was terrible either.

American BMX Stunt Team
Some of the tricks and flips were pretty cool, but I honestly got kind of bored just watching them ride back and forth. I think they need more variety in the way they do the tricks in order to stay more entertaining.

Nikki Jensen
I like her voice based on what I've heard in her previous performances, but she didn't really stand out to me this time. I didn't like the song choice, and she seemed a bit timid. Singers can go really far in this competition if they play their cards right, but I don't think Nikki started out on the right foot.

The Scott Brothers
Wow. That was very impressive! That was very original and really unique. I love the moves and even the music and sound effects that accompanied them. By far the best act of the night so far. I loved the way they spun around the hat; I could have sworn there was a string attached to them. Great act and great performance.

Michael Nejad
I like the creativity, but this guy was terrible tonight. He was off with the background music the entire time and was just plain bad.

787 Crew
I really liked them. I disagree with Howie and HOward and actually think that this performance was better than the previous ones. They're very precise and I think they have a lot of good moves. They sort of remind me of Studio One Young Beast Society.

Shanice and Maurice Hayes
Again the singers let me down. I know that Shanice has a great voice, but I didn't think this performance was very good at all. I was surprised to hear the judges give them so much praise. Maybe I'm just missing something? I really just didn't think it sounded that good.

David Garibaldi and his CMYK's
Not sure it deserved a standing ovation, but definitely a great performance! I love the idea of the act and it was very well executed tonight with some great new ideas. I've always been amazed by speed painting and adding dance to it makes the actual painting part more enjoyable.

My Ranking:
(from best to worst)

1. The Scott Brothers
2. David Garibaldi and his CMYK's
3. 787 Crew
4. Edon

5. Todd Oliver
6. American BMX Stunt Team
7. The Distinguished Men of Brass
8. Shanice and Maurice Hayes
9. Jarrett and Raja
10. Nikki Jensen
11. Lil Star
12. Michael Nejad
